GULF BREEZE — Eddie Lee took the area by storm when he carded a 4-under 68 to open the Marvin Debolt Daily News Junior Classic in July.
Three months later, the Fort Walton Beach underclassman is bound for state.
Lee birdied two of the first three holes at Gulf Breeze’s Tiger Point Golf Club en route to a 1-over 73, advancing him to next month’s 2A state championship at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills.
After a 2-under 34 on the front nine, Lee had his first bogey on the 411-yard, par-4 11th. He was 1-under through 15 before bogeying 16 and 17 en route to a back-nine 39.
"I had fun playing my first regionals at Tiger Point," said Lee, who won the District 1-2A crown. "It was a tough course but I started my first four holes 2-under, which was awesome. I wish I kept that score throughout the day but I lost some of my concentration on the back nine.
His teammates did not fare as well as the Vikings failed to qualify for state with a 362.
Logan Sloan carded a 94, Tanner Morlan a 95 and Easton Hill a 100.
"Hopefully next year we will do better as a team and individually.
