Local volleyball rivals E.D. White Catholic and Vandebilt Catholic met up again for a championship game held at the Ponchartrain Center in Kenner on Saturday.

The two teams advanced to the silver bracket championship game of the Vandebilt tournament on Saturday. It was a rematch of the Division III state finals last year which the Lady Terriers won.

But on Saturday, E.D. White got the best of its rival by posting a 21-25, 25-20, 15-10 win over the Lady Terriers.

Lila Bordis led the Lady Cardinals with 18 kills, 12 digs and two aces, while other contributors were Khloe Trosclair (11 kills, three blocks), Joci Gravois (two blocks), Kadie Becnel (17 digs), Caroline Gros (25 assists, two aces).

E.D. White (24-7 overall) also defeated Lusher (25-9, 25-9), East Ascension (25-17, 25-12) and St. Joseph’s Academy (25-23, 25-17) at the tournament. The Lady Cardinals dropped their only game to Teurlings (21-25, 17-25).

VANDEBILT 

Vandebilt (23-9 overall) defeated Lakeshore (25-22, 25-21) and St. Amant (23-25, 25-22, 15-9) before falling to E.D. White on Saturday. 

TERREBONNE

Terrebonne finished 2-2 at the Vandebilt tournament, defeating Ruston (25-21, 25-20) and Newman (25-17, 25-15) but lost to Vandebilt (25-21, 19-25, 11-15) and Lafayette Christian (11-25, 16-26).

Leaders for Terrebonne (24-12 overall) throughout the tourney were Inayah Pink (31 kills), Daycie Theriot (60 assists, eight aces), Madison Luke (52 digs, nine aces), Hannah Liner (61 digs).

Country Day won the gold division tournament title.

Members of the All-Tournament team were Lila Bordis of E.D. White, Cicily Hildago and Paige Guidry of Teurlings Catholic, Kate Baker of Dominican, Ainsley Tullis of Pope John Paul, Korie Calloway and Kierra Washington of Lafayette Christian, Emily Meyer and Tea Jones of Mount Carmel and Kaci Chairs and Kate Launey of Country Day. Launey was named tournament MVP.

SOUTH TERREBONNE AT BATON ROUGE TOURNAMENT

At Baton Rouge, the Lady Gators finished 2-2 at the tournament with wins over Woodlawn-Baton Rouge (25-17, 25-20) and Tara (25-20, 25-10) and losses to Baton Rouge High (11-25, 12-25) and University (16-25, 9-25).

Leaders for the Lady Gators (3-25 overall) were Maggie Portier (16 kills, two blocks), Kaci Martin (15 kills, 23 digs, one ace), Haley Giling (25 digs, two kills, two aces), Shea (13 kills), Saige Naquin (50 assists, 10 digs, five aces) and Makenzi Clement (12 digs, six aces).
