The Northridge Middle School volleyball team finished its season undefeated at 31-0 and claimed the City/County Tournament hosted by Holy Spirit earlier this month.

The Lady Jaguars beat Eastwood Middle and Duncanville Middle, winning in straight sets in pool play. Against Hale County Middle, the Lady Jags won 25-14, 25-12. Kate Reel had five kills and six aces while Olivia McDaniel had five kills. The Lady Jags faced Northside in the finals, winning in straight sets 25-18, 25-23. Kate Wilkin had four blocks and Piper Payne had four kills to lead Northridge.

“They kept pushing themselves to improve each game and practice”, said first-year coach Robin Renfroe. “The results were a City/County championship. I’m so proud of them."

The A-team, comprised of 8th graders, never dropped a set. They went 42 straight sets without losing to finish the season undefeated. The B-team had similar results, winning all their matches, including a championship at the tournament hosted by Northside High School.

Northridge opened its season in August with a championship at a tournament hosted by Sipsey Valley. The Lady Jags won five straight matches with a win over Echols for the title.

The Lady Jags continued winning against local teams including Holy Spirit, Echols, Greensboro, Westlawn, Collins-Riverside, Sipsey Valley, Northside, and two more tournament wins hosted by Tuscaloosa County High and Northside High School.

“The girls did a fantastic job this season," Renfroe said. "Our focus was strong fundamentals and playing as one."
