It took three games to do it, but the Destin Marlins came away with a road-victory in middle school volleyball over the Liza Jackson Lions on Tuesday afternoon.
Destin won the first game 25-17, but then lost in round two, 25-22.
In game three, Destin put the match away 15-6.
“We switched our two biggest hitter positions,” said Destin Coach Susie Pierce.
Pierce explained they swapped Ava Smith, who was an outside hitter, to the middle hitter spot, and then moved Blakely York from a middle hitter to the outside.
“Both players came up with some huge kills in the third game,” she said.
As for serves, it’s still a work in process for Destin.
“We are still working on serving consistency but we are definitely improving everyday,” Pierce said. “Our seventh graders, Brooke Henderson and Ashlyn Priest, gave us some nice runs.”
Up next for the 2-2 Marlins is a 4:30 p.m. game at Baker on Wednesday.
