NICEVILLE — In Juanyeh Thomas, Georgia Tech found a star.

Now the Yellow Jackets (1-1) are hoping lightning strikes twice, the ACC program extending a scholarship offer to Juanyeh's little brother, Niceville sophomore Azareyeh Thomas, on Wednesday.

“Truly blessed to receive my first offer from Georgia Tech!” Azareyeh wrote on Twitter. “Give thanks to the man above.”

Included in the tweet was a picture of his older brother taking a kick return 100 yards to the house against Georgia during his freshman campaign last season.

Responded Juanyeh on Twitter: “This the beginning lil’ bro...Remember this all for Mama.”

Azareyeh, a part of the 2022 college recruiting class, will look to make a similar impact at the Division I level as his big bro.

The sophomore has certainly made a name for himself in just three starts at defensive back for Niceville (3-0), which enters Friday’s road contest at Crestview (1-2) on the cusp of earning a top 10 ranking by FloridaHSFootball.com.

Last week in a 29-17 win at Fort Walton Beach, Azareyeh had three pass deflections and an interception that set up Will Koch’s 37-yard touchdown pass to Roman Prestarri.

In the opening week, the sophomore delivered the initial tackle on Mosley quarterback Joey Garrett for a safety. On the season he has 10 tackles.
