Christian Manthey connected for four hits to lead Kona Brew Crew in a 15-8 win over Bradley Textile Industrial on opening night of the fall city of Destin’s Coed Softball League at Morgan Sports Center.

Manthey, playing in Division I, ripped an inside the park home run, a double and two singles for two RBIs. Other big hitters were Clarence Wells with a triple and two singles, Paige Ogden with two singles, and Michael Ogden, who belted a three-run homer.

The first few innings of play were close with Kona holding a 10-7 lead at the end of four.

In the fifth, Kona pulled away with four runs, while Bradley only scored one run in the bottom half.

With time running out, Kona scored one last run in the sixth and Bradley’s went scoreless.

Big hitters for Bradley’s were Rita Cummins, Linda Griffith and Ruby Davis, each with two singles. Corey Griffith slapped an inside-the-park home run.

 

Hancock Whitney Bank 16, HarborWalk Marina 13

Hancock took the early 6-1 lead in the first two innings, but then HarborWalk evened the score in the bottom of the third with five runs.

In the fourth, HarborWalk held up Hancock and then scored two runs for their only lead of the game, 8-6.

In the top of the fifth, Hancock put up six runs and then another four in the sixth.

HarborWalk finished up with five in the bottom of the sixth.

Matt Campbell led Hancock with two doubles and a single for an RBI. Laura Barnhill hit three singles, and Chris Edmonsond doubled and singled for two RBIs. Joe Feltner clobbered a grand slam and Davy Bazylak homered.

Brandon Patzig was tops for HarborWalk with a home run and two singles for an RBI. Missy Welborn connected for three singles for three RBIs, and Brian Martinez hit three singles.

 

Bradley Textile Industrial 30, Emerald Coast Chiropractic 11

Bradley buried Chiropractic early, taking a 16-1 lead in the first three innings. In the second inning, the Bradley defense pulled off a triple play.

In the fourth, Bradley put up seven runs, and Chiropractic answered with seven of its own.

With the 75-minute time limit running out, Bradley scored another seven runs in the top of the fifth. Chiropractic came back with three.

Colton Kilpatrick led the Bradley bats with two doubles and two singles for four RBIs. Elizabeth Grandstaff hit four singles for an RBI, and Ryan Grandstaff batted three singles for four RBIs.

Tom Bassillo hit three singles for two RBIs for Chiropractic. Shawn Wood hit two singles for three RBIs, while Tami Groth connected on two singles for two RBIS and on defense had two catches behind the plate for outs.

 

Prime’d 29, Philip Cryar Marine Works 13

The first three innings were close with Prime’d holding a slight 8-6 lead.

In the top of the fourth, Prime’d exploded for the 10-run rule. They picked up two more in the fifth and then nine in the sixth to finish off the game.

Josh Snyder was the big stick for Prime’d with two doubles and three singles for four RBIs. Jen Phillips doubled and hit four singles for two RBIs, and Christina Raminez doubled and hit three singles for an RBI. Taylor Fought cranked one out of the park.

Sam Senor and Mike McGrath each singled for two RBIs for Marine Works. Ronnie Lee singled.
