HOKES BLUFF — The Eagles evened their record to 4-4 with the 50-40 victory over Boaz Friday night.

Hokes Bluff bounced back after dropping a 38-37 decision to rival Southside on Thursday.

Jayden Presley led Hokes Bluff with 15 points followed by Madison Wolfe with 12. Kristen Shields and Gracie West added eight points each.

Katie Long and Emma Beck led the Pirates with eight points each.

Hokes Bluff returns to action Dec. 14 when the Eagles host Jacksonville.

 

Coosa Christian 68, Jacksonville Christian 43

Coosa Christian (7-5) improved to 2-0 in area play after beating Jacksonville Christian by 25.

The Conquerors' Claire Davidson led all scorers with 26 points. Chloe Davidson chipped in 18, and Kaylie Reeves had eight.

Coosa Christian returns to action Monday night when it returns to area play against Faith Christian.

 

Glencoe 66, Hanceville 43

GLENCOE — Anna Beth Giles scored 11 of her game-high 21 points to lift Glencoe over Hanceville Friday night.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 22-11 lead at the end of the first period and never looked back.

Ashley Morgan was the only other Glencoe player to post double figures with 10. Aubrey Gray added eight.

Kelly Pickett led Hanceville with 16.

Glencoe returns to action Tuesday night at Susan Moore.

 

BOYS BASKETBALL

Westbrook 73, Gaston 35

Jacksonville State football commit Jackson Luttrell led the Warriors to a basketball win over Class 2A, Area 11 foe Gaston on Friday.

Luttrell totaled 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors (4-3, 1-0). P.J. Wells scored 17 points and 13 rebounds. Jonah Morris added 12 points. Andrew Lockridge chipped in six points and 11 assists.

 

Fyffe 68, Ider 32

FYFFE — Fyffe eased its way to an 8-0 record with its win over Ider on Thursday.

The Red Devils led 26-5 through one quarter, 38-13 at halftime and 54-23 heading into the fourth quarter.

“We were able to get an area win and play everybody a lot of minutes,” Fyffe coach Martin Thrash said. “We start a tough stretch next week going to North Sand Mountain and Section.”

Tucker Goolesby led the Red Devils with 20 points. Micah Johnson added 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Austin Buster scored nine points.

Ider (1-6) was led by Corey Brown’s 12 points.

 

BOWLING

Gadsden City sweeps Hokes Bluff

Gadsden City swept Hokes Bluff in high school bowling Thursday at Paradise Lanes.

The Titan boys (4-2, 4-0 Area 13) beat the Eagles 1,403-847. Gadsden City was led by Tommy Butler (209) and Isaac Hernandez (188). Trent Billingsley paced Hokes Bluff with a 132.

The Titan girls (3-3, 1-1 Area 13) topped the Eagles 1,111-885. Deanna Sanders led Gadsden City with a 247. Jaide Beck bowled a 169. Carly Wood and Hannah Blevins both shot a 137.

 

WRESTLING

Gadsden City finishes 2nd at meet

Gadsden City finished second at a wrestling meet at the Alabama School for the Deaf.

The Titans totaled 81 points to finish behind Cleburne County (108). Alabama School for the Deaf (59) was third and Montevallo finished fourth (36).

Gadsden City’s Samuel Jaggaers and Evan Gibbs won their matches against Cleburne County. Andres Pablo, Jaggears, Gibbs, Corion Holloman, Elijah Glaze and Samuel Horton each won against ASD. Pablo, Jaggears, Holloman, Glaze and Horton topped their Montevallo opponents.

 

MEN’S JUCO HOOPS

Gadsden State 102, Stillman JV 84

Gadsden State beat Stillman’s junior varsity on Friday night.

The Cardinals (8-5) were led by Jeremiah Harris’ 20 points. Shon McKinney added 19 points.

GSCC hosts Wallace Selma at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
