Today: Tickets are on sale for the second-annual Bayou Region Athletic Hall of Fame banquet hosted by The Foundation for Terrebonne General Medical Center and the TGMC Community Sports Institute. The banquet will be held at 6 p.m. June 29 at the Cypress Columns in Gray. It will include six inductees, including former South Lafourche High, LSU and Canadian Football League player Ronnie Estay, former Terrebonne High, LSU and NFL player Earl Gros, former Central Lafourche and LSU quarterback Tommy Hodson, former Terrebonne High, University of New Orleans and Major League Baseball standout Wally Whitehurst and former Central Lafourche and Nicholls basketball player Larry Wilson. Inductees represent top athletes from Terrebonne, Lafourche and Assumption parishes. Each honoree will be honored with a spot of prominence on the Bayou Region Athletic Wall of Fame located at the TGMC Community Sports Institute in Houma. Proceeds will support The Foundation for TGMC’s fundraiser to by a mobile medical clinic/blood mobile.

Saturday-June 19: The annual Offensive-Defensive Line camp will be held at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux on Saturday-June 19. Centers, guards, tackles, tight ends, nose guards, defensive tackles, defensive ends and linebackers in ninth-12th grades will receive over 40 hours of instruction and 500 former camp participants have signed college scholarships. The cost is $425 per camper, which includes room, meals, t-shirt and instruction. There is a $10 fee for helmet rental if needed. It can be paid online by credit card at www.offdeflinecamp.com. Registration will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 16 in the Cotillion Ballroom at Nicholls. Mark Songy is the camp director and Pete Jenkins (nearly 40 years of coaching high school and college with stints at Southern Miss, South Carolina, Oklahoma State, Auburn and LSU and time as defensive line coach for the Philadelphia Eagles) are expected to be on hand. Other coaches will include Don Rodrigue (over 40 years of college and high school coaching) and Randy Breaux (over 30 years of high school coaching). Campers will also receive instruction from the Nicholls football staff and Colonels trainers will be on hand as well junior college and high school coaches from Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi. June 18-21: Central Lafourche will host its basketball camp on June 18-21. It will take place in Central Lafourche’s main gym each day from Monday through Thursday. It will start at 9 a.m. and end at noon. It is for boys and girls in grades 1-8. The cost is $50 per camper. Drinks and snacks will be sold for $1. June 18-20: The Vandebilt Catholic softball program will host camps this summer at Gerald Albert Park at Margaret Johnson Field on the campus of the Houma school. On June 18 and June 19, there will be a hitting and defense camp for grades fourth through 12th from 9 a.m. to noon. On June 20th, there will be an advanced pitching camp for grades fourth through 12th from 9 a.m. to noon. The price is $60 for the two-day camp and 40 for just the pitching clinic. Mail in registration form and check, sign up by e-mail before deadline, pay upon arrival by 8:30 a.m. at regular price. Walkups will be accepted. The camp will be directed by Vandebilt softball coach Danielle “Dee” Price and will feature former and current Vandebilt softball players and special guests Margaret Johnson and Ricky Johnson. Tuesday: Vandebilt Catholic High School will hold the 2018 Terrier Football Camp starting Tuesday at Buddy Marcello Stadium in Houma. The four-day camp will take place each day from 9 a.m. to noon. Vandebilt coach Jeremy Atwell will run the camp with his assistants and members of the football team. It is for kids ages 7-14. The price is $100 per child, and it will include a camp T-shirt and admission to the Vandebilt Catholic vs. South Terrebonne football game on Sept. 21. Late registrations will have to pick up T-shirts from the Vandebilt office at 8 a.m. to noon after July 9. Drinks and snacks will be provided daily. June 20-24 and 25-29: The Hoop-LA basketball camp, which is led by Houma Christian School coach Freddie Frye, will take place  June 20-24 and June 25-29 for ages 14-17. The camp times are 10 a.m. to noon each day and will be held at Houma Christian's gym, 109 Valhi Blvd. in Houma and the cost is $75 per player. Registration is also allowed on the Monday before a participant's camp week. Each participant gets a camp shirt. July 9-13: E.D. White Catholic boys soccer coach Roger Bimah will hold the 16th annual goalkeeper camp on July 9-13 at the Andolsek Soccer Park in Thibodaux. The camp will be held from 6-8 p.m. each day and is open for players 10 and up. The cost is $100 and is limited to 10 participants. The deadline to register is July 10. This camp is designed to give the beginning and intermediate campers a formal introduction to serious goalkeeping. Emphasis will be placed on the 10 principles of goalkeeping as well as a comprehensive review of the technical, tactical, conditioning and psychological aspects of the position. It is a demanding program that focuses on improving each camper’s proficiency and knowledge of goalkeeping. Campers should bring a ball, shin guards, water, sunscreen and goal keeping equipment.
