PITCHERS

Jose Albertos, RHP: Signed for $1.5 million out of the Mexican League in 2015. The No. 3 pitching prospect in the Cubs’ organization, according to MLB.com, went 2-1 with a 2.86 ERA in eight starts last year for the Emeralds.

Luis Aquino, RHP: Reliever went 2-4 with a 1.99 ERA and eight saves last year while being named a Northwest League All-Star for the Emeralds.

Sean Barry, RHP: Drafted in the 21st round out of San Diego last year, he pitched three innings for Mesa in the Arizona League last summer.

Faustino Carrera, LHP: The 5-foot-10 lefty will start the opener after going 2-4 with a 3.88 ERA last year at Mesa.

Yan De La Cruz, RHP: A rare 24-year old in the NWL, De La Cruz has spent the past four years in the Dominican Summer League going 8-9 with a 4.68 ERA and 11 saves in 58 games.

Dalton Geekie, RHP: Former Braves prospect missed all of last season following Tommy John surgery and signed with the Cubs last month.

Brailyn Marquez, LHP: Chicago’s No. 26 prospect, according to MLB.com, went 2-1 with a 5.52 ERA in 11 games, including nine starts, last year in Mesa.

Eugenio Palma, LHP: Lefty went 5-1 with a 2.40 ERA in 16 relief appearances last year in the Arizona League.

Eury Ramos, RHP: The 6-foot-3, 20-year-old went 2-2 with a 5.63 ERA last year in Mesa.

Stephen Ridings, RHP: Eighth-round pick out of Haverford College in Pennsylvania in 2016 had a 4.09 ERA in 22 innings last year in the Arizona League after returning from Tommy John surgery.

Casey Ryan, RHP: Reliever went 1-1 with an 8.50 ERA in 13 games last year for the Emeralds.

Jake Steffens, RHP: Drafted in the 29th round out of Santa Clara last year, the 6-foot4 Steffens went 1-1 with a 1.54 ERA in 16 relief appearances last season for the Emeralds.

Mitch Stophel, RHP: A 25th-round pick out of King College in Tennessee last year, the 23-year old went 1-0 with a 3.45 ERA in 12 appearances out of the bullpen last year for the Ems.

HITTERS

Gustavo Polanco, C/1B: A Northwest League All-Star last season when he batted .281 with 32 RBIs for the Ems.

Jonathan Soto, C: The 19-year old batted .284 with 38 RBIs last year in the Dominican Summer League.

Cameron Balego, C: Was converted to catcher in the offseason after batting .286 as an infielder for Mesa.

Luis Diaz, 2B: Hit .273 with eight homers and 34 RBIs last year in the Dominican Summer League.

Rafael Mejia, 1B: Twenty-year old has 10 homers and 48 RBIs in 408 minor-league at-bats.

Christopher Morel, 3B: After missing the 2016 season with an arm injury, he batted .220 with seven homers and 40 RBIs last year in the Dominican Summer League.

Ramsey Romano, 3B: Drafted in the 31st round out of Long Beach State last season before going 10-for-62 with seven runs scored and six RBIs for Eugene.

Luis Vazquez, SS: One of the top defensive shortstops in the Cubs’ system, he batted .184 with nine RBIs last year in Mesa.

Fernando Kelli, OF: Most valuable player of the Dominican Summer League last year when he batted .320 with 39 RBIs and 58 stolen bases.

Kwang-Min Kwon, OF: Signed for $1.2 million out of South Korea and batted .207 with two homers and 10 RBIs in 24 games last year with the Emeralds.

Ruben Reyes, OF: Played the past two seasons in Mesa, batting .238 with 12 RBIs in 164 at-bats.

Jonathan Sierra, OF: The 19-year old hit .259 with two homers and 22 RBIs last season in the Arizona League.

Nelson Velazquez, OF: Fifth-round pick in 2017 draft out of high school in Puerto Rico is ranked as Chicago’s No. 9 prospect after hitting .236 with eight homers in 110 at-bats last year in Mesa.
