PLEASANT HILL — Zach Hart and Braden Pruitt combined on a one-hitter to help lead Pleasant Hill to a 7-2 victory over Harrisburg in a Mountain Valley Conference baseball playoff game Wednesday.
The win sends the No. 8-ranked Billies (14-7) to the conference championship game at No. 3 La Pine (20-3) at 4:30 p.m. Friday to determine the conference's top two seeds for the state playoffs.
Torrey Gage-Tomlinson finished 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI for Pleasant Hill. Kyle Davis stroked the lone hit for Harrisburg (7-17).
Special District 3
Monroe 14, Lowell 0; Monroe 12, Lowell 1: The Dragons (17-7, 14-2 SD3) remained a game ahead of second-place Oakland in the district standings by sweeping the Devils (3-17, 3-13) on the road.
Thurston 11, South Medford 4: The Colts (22-5), the second-ranked Class 5A team in the state, tuned up for the playoffs with an impressive home win over the Panthers (21-4), the second-ranked team in Class 6A. The Colts ran their winning streak to 14 games and have won 18 of their last 19 contests. On Wednesday, Jaren Sargeant and Preston Fisher homered for Thurston. Chase Ellliott was 3-for-3 for Thurston, and Sargeant, Fisher, Decker Stedman and Jake Riley all had two hits. Sargeant had four RBIs, Fisher drove in two runs with his homer and Stedman pitched four innings for the win.
Mountain Valley Conference
Harrisburg 6, La Pine 0: Haley Brooks had a three-run home run and Taytum Hughes had a solo homer in the eight-ranked Eagles' conference playoff win over the Hawks. Harrisburg (19-6) will play at sixth-ranked Glide (20-6) on Friday for conference seeding in the 3A playoffs.
Special District 2
Central Linn 6, Western Mennonite 1: Jamey Buckridge was 3-for-4 with three RBIs for the third-ranked Cobras (20-2, 15-2 SD2) in their home win. Emma Johnson was 2-for-3 for Central Linn, Payton Holt was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Kokoro Izumi went the distance in the circle, allowing three hits, one run and striking out four.
Special District 3
Monroe 16, Lowell 3; Monroe 15, Lowell 7: The seventh-ranked Dragons (18-5, 17-1 SD3) rolled past the Devils (3-19, 2-16).
Marist 8, West Albany 7, 8 inn.: Abbey Siroshton's two-run single with the bases loaded gave the Spartans (24-3) the win in their final tuneup before the state playoffs against the 6A Bulldogs (20-7). West Albany broke a 6-6 tie with a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning, but the Spartans responded in the bottom of the inning. Brielle Wolf was 2-for-4 for Marist and Ariel Carolson had a solo homer and two RBIs.
Junction City 12, Churchill 3: Kamryn Potter and Lindsey Stripling powered the offensive attack for the second-ranked Tigers (25-1) as they tuned up for the Class 4A playoffs with the win. Potter was 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBIs and a double. Stripling was 3-for-5 with three runs, and Jenna Kister went the distance in the circle and struck out seven Lancers (7-18).
