RELATED STORY: Georgia woman’s bike stolen in Destin; local family donates new one
I wrote a letter to the thief that stole a bike from our condo (I was (upset!), and the Daily News news published it Saturday. I had no sooner opened my paper and saw it, when I received a text message from Barbara, a resident that wanted to help and was empathetic to my friend who's bike had been stolen.
Then, out of the blue my phone rang a couple minutes later. The family on the other end had a bike and wanted to give it to my friend who'd had hers stolen. The family, Toni, Laura, and Max had a plan to get it over to us as well.
Within a few hours Laura and Max pulled up, and delivered the special needs bike, with accessories — a helmet, pump and lock.
I had to share with everyone that saw my letter this story —the kindness and willingness to make my friend’s misfortune turn into an overwhelming feeling of care and love within this community. I have never met Toni, but I will tell you she has a huge heart and she has passed that on to her beautiful daughter and grandson.
We at the Nautilus thank you!
