PANAMA CITY — The Bay County Sheriff’s Office has arrested one suspect for murder and another as an accessory in the shooting death of a man in Panama City on Sunday.

According to sheriff’s office reports, Cristian Solorzano, 17 was arrested at Panavilla Garden Apartments on Tuesday and charged with an open count of murder. Investigators also arrested Adolfo Mancilla Cuevas, 40, in Dothan, Alabama with the help of the Geneva County Sheriff’s Office and charged him with accessory after the fact in regards to the shooting.

Investigators believe they have recovered the firearm used in the shooting.

The sheriff’s office stated on Monday that Jesus Ivan Barreiro-Cruz, 33, was found dead of a single gunshot wound in a van outside a trailer at 1836 N. East Avenue in Panama City Sunday evening. Reports state that after receiving a call, deputies found Barreiro-Cruz slumped in the driver’s seat of the van and cold to the touch.

Reports state that BCSO criminal investigations developed information that led them to Solorzano, who had been missing from the trailer park where Barreiro-Cruz’s body was discovered. Solorzano had been seen with a firearm and was known to be trying to sell it, reports state.

Solorzano told investigators that the shooting was accidental. However, his description of the incident did not match forensic evidence gathering at the scene, investigators say.

Solorzano was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
