It was a tale of two nines for Eddie Lee on Wednesday.
The Fort Walton Beach sophomore opened with an 8-over 43 during the final round of the 2A state tournament at Mission Inn & Resort.
He was a cool even-par on the back side at El Campeon’s course.
The result was an 8-over 80 to follow Tuesday’s 78, putting him in a tie for 26th and 13 strokes back of state champ Jason Duff from Menendez.
Lee, fresh off a 74 to win districts and a 73 to finish third at regionals, started rough with two double bogeys and four bogeys in a six-hole stretch from Nos. 3-8. He had no birdies on the front nine.
But on the back side he found his stroke, birdying 11 and 14 en route to the even-par finish to make him an aggregate 14-over for the two-day showcase.
Lee finished with five birdies in the tournament and has two years to build on the top-30 finish.
