A Golden Meadow man was arrested this week in Assumption Parish after driving through private lawns and causing damage to personal properties, authorities said.

Seth Randal Demere, 18, of 125 Pershing St., is charged with hit-and-run driving, resisting an officer and unlawful disruption of the operation of a school, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were called out to a traffic complaint on Sept. 26 involving a motorist driving and damaging private lawns, authorities said. Deputies later found the suspect vehicle, but it had been abandoned.

The car was registered to Demere, the Sheriff’s Office said. The suspect was later spotted outside Belle Rose Middle School, which caused the school to be placed on lockdown out of precaution, authorities said.

Demere was located and taken into custody a short time later but had to be hospitalized for an unknown medical condition, the Sheriff’s Office said. The suspect was arrested Wednesday in Lafourche Parish and transferred to the Assumption Parish jail, where he was booked on a $30,000 bond.
