Bargain hunters will find a wide variety of merchandise from top Tuscaloosa retailers with prices slashed by at least 75% during this weekend's Buy for Rise charity sale.
The preview sale will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Rise Center, 600 Johnny Stallings Drive, with entertainment, food and drinks provided. The preview will be catered by Hoo’s Q, Pastor’s Kitchen, International Wines and Adams Beverages. Admission is $15 at the door. The sale continues on Saturday from 8-11 a.m. with free admission.
Buy for Rise is an annual fundraiser for the Rise Center. The center, part of UA’s College of Human Environmental Sciences, serves children with disabilities and their typically developing peers, from ages 8 weeks to 5 years.
The center serves more than 100 children, more than 50% with special needs, in their five-day-a-week program and therapeutic playgroup. A news release from UA says the inclusive early childhood education program not only benefits families in the community, but it also serves as a practicum and internship site for students from UA and other colleges.
