The 2019 Bayou Region Pitch Competition boot camp begins this month.

The competition is open to all current students of Fletcher Technical Community College and Nicholls State University, and existing businesses in Assumption, Lafourche, Terrebonne and St. Mary Parishes. The event will feature two rounds of pitches—one for first-stage entrepreneurs and one for second-stage entrepreneurs.

All ideas are welcome: those that solve problems, fill a need, are innovative or can illustrate a positive economic impact may rise to the top, closer to the top prize.

First-stage entrepreneurs—those not yet in business or just launching a company—compete for a first prize of $5,000, second prize of $2,500 and third-prize of $1,000. Entrepreneurs must attend two mandatory preparatory boot camps at 3 p.m. Sept. 26 and Oct. 23 at Nicholls.

Second-stage entrepreneurs—primarily Louisiana Small Business Development Center clients—will compete for a $15,000 first prize, $10,000 second prize and $5,000 third prize. These contestants should attend an information session 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Sept. 17. Contact Jimmy Nguyen at 449-7092.

The final ceremony will be held Nov. 20 at the Duhe' Auditorium in Houma.
