A 22-year-old man is dead after an early-morning shooting in Albertville, according to Albertville Police Chief Jamie Smith.
Smith said an altercation between two men ended in the death of Clint O’Neal Bailey of McVille Road, Albertville. The shooting occurred at about 2:39 a.m. at a Taylor Street residence.
A person of interest is in custody and is the focus of the investigation. Detectives are still working at this time gathering evidence and trying to determine the cause of the altercation and what led to the fatal shooting, Smith said in a press release.
The body has been turned over to the Marshall County Coroner’s Office and an autopsy will be performed by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
Smith said he expects to file formal charges with the Marshall County District Attorney’s Office as soon as Monday.
