A man arrested Wednesday is accused of breaking into a Northport woman's home and raping her as he threatened to shoot her.

Recarto Antonio Brown, 29, was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and first-degree burglary.

According to court records, Brown assaulted the woman while armed with a handgun. She told police that Brown was armed with a handgun when he broke into her home off Harper Road and attacked her July 11.

A grand jury heard evidence in the case and issued indictments Aug. 14.

Authorities served the warrants and arrested Brown Wednesday. He remained in the Tuscaloosa County Jail Thursday with bond set at $60,000.
