Authorities have arrested a 26-year-old man wanted in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred at a Houma apartment complex last week.
Darrell Renee Scott Jr., 26, turned himself into authorities Tuesday afternoon, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office said. He is charged with second-degree murder and principal to illegal use of weapons.
A warrant was issued for Scott’s arrest following the Friday morning shooting death of 22-year-old Damon Walls at The Landing Apartments, authorities said.
Deputies determined the shooting was connected to a drug-related robbery, the Sheriff’s Office said. An additional suspect, Jordan Ray, 19, was arrested on the day of the shooting and was charged with illegal discharged of a firearm, aggravated criminal damage to property and possession of a stolen firearm.
He remains jailed on a $250,000 bond.
After turning himself in on Tuesday, Scott was transported and booked into the Terrebonne Parish jail on $1.3 million bond.
Terrebonne Sheriff Jerry Larpenter credited detectives for their work in investigating the crime.
“An important aspect of circumstances concerning this suspect’s surrender was the diligence of our Detective Division,” Larpenter said. “We are grateful for the dedication they show every day.”
The shooting investigation is continuing and authorities ask anyone with information to call the Sheriff’s Office at 876-2500 or Bayou Region Crime Stoppers at 1-800-743-7433. Some tipsters may become eligible for a $1,000 cash reward if their information leads to an arrest.
