A 42-year-old Golden Meadow man was arrested on his third DWI charge following a traffic stop Monday night, police said.

In addition to the DWI, Clint Cheramie is charged with speeding and resisting an officer, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies found his blood-alcohol level was more than four and a half times the legal limit of .08 percent.

Just before 7:30 p.m., a Golden Meadow Police officer saw Cheramie’s vehicle traveling 70 mph in a 50 mph speed zone, authorities said. After traveling some distance, the suspect pulled over and later performed poorly on a field sobriety test.

Cheramie was transported to the South Lafourche substation, where deputies assisted in the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said. He submitted to a breath test, which showed a .364 percent. Deputies learned the suspect had previously been arrested on DWI charges in 2017 and in July.

Cheramie was arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish jail, where he was released after posting a $150,000 bond.
