Nothing Bundt Cakes is planned to open at the former Moe's Southwest Grill in Destin by late October.
DESTIN — One local U.S. Air Force retiree will soon open a popular bakery franchise at the former Moe's Southwest Grill on U.S. Highway 98 next to Yogurt Mountain.
Kevin Arnold of Fort Walton Beach said he plans to launch Nothing Bundt Cakes in late October. The franchise, which was founded by Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz in 1997, offers four sizes and 10 flavors of bundt cakes at its locations nationwide.
There is also a flavor of the month and seasonal flavors.
Arnold said he decided to open the franchise in Destin after tasting Nothing Bundt Cakes' white chocolate raspberry flavor at a location in Pensacola.
"They taste like a dream if you really want to know what I think about it," Arnold said about the cakes. "They taste fabulous. I knew the Destin market needed this product."
The soon-to-be owner said he chose the former Moe's location because the franchise has strict rules about their Nothing Bundt Cakes, and the site fit the specifications. He said corporate already has approved the building, located at 985 U.S. Highway 98 East in Destin.
