A 58-year-old Gibson man was charged with his fourth DWI following a traffic stop Thursday, State Police said.

In addition to the DWI, Jeffrey Henson is charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding, Senior Trooper Jesse LaGrange said.

Around 5:42 p.m. a trooper was patrolling the area of La. 20 and La. 182 in Terrebonne and saw Henson’s vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, LaGrange said.

“He activated his radar and observed the vehicle, a gray GMC Van, was traveling at 76 mph in a 55 mph zone,” LaGrange said. “The trooper conducted a traffic stop and met with Henson. He observed Henson was impaired and conducted a field sobriety test, which he failed.”

After Henson was arrested he provided a breath sample that showed he was more than three times over the legal blood-alcohol limit of .08 percent, LaGrange said.

Henson was booked into the Terrebonne Parish jail on a $15,000 bond.
