Alabama State Troopers say a 10-year-old girl was pronounced dead at Regional Medical Center in Anniston after she was injured in a multiple vehicle crash Friday morning on Alabama Highway 21.

According to a press release, Calhoun County 911 notified Alabama Law Enforcement Communications at the Jacksonville post at 6:55 a.m. of a multiple vehicle crash at Alabama 21 and Meadow Avenue.

A 2002 Lexus traveling northbound on Alabama 21 tried to make a left turn onto Meadow Avenue and was struck by a 2015 Jeep traveling southbound. The Lexus then struck a 2006 Mitsubishi.

The injured occupants were transported to RMC where a 10-year-old passenger, whose name was not released by ALEA, was pronounced dead by medical staff.

The crash is under investigation by ALEA troopers.
