The University of Alabama Police Department on Friday invited the public to learn more about its operation during Community Day.

UAPD officers presented free informational sessions to the public at the University Police Center, 1110 Jackson Ave.

During the sessions, officers gave a Taser demonstration and provided demonstrations of police motorcycles and patrol cars. Community members had the opportunity to take a close-up look at the equipment officers use every day. Also, K-9 officers and their handlers demonstrated how they search for and detect explosives.
