What do you do when an Anheuser-Busch truck pulls up at the fire department?

You invite some friends to share.

It’s not quite the scenario it sounds like, according to Ballplay Bend Fire Chief Jeremy Tidmore.

The department received a grant from the National Volunteer Fire Council and Anheuser-Busch to receive a pallet of canned drinking water — something that will prove extremely welcome when volunteers are responding to fires during the late summer heat, Tidmore said.

“This is going to be a huge benefit with the hot days we have,” he said.

The plan is for the water to be used during firefighting operations, and Tidmore said Ballplay’s volunteers want to share the bounty with some other county volunteer departments.

If other volunteer departments need water their chiefs should reach out to Ballplay Bend through the department’s Facebook page to arrange to pick up some of the water granted to Ballplay, Tidmore said.
