A Houma man found sleeping in his car was charged with multiple drug offenses early Tuesday, police said.

Dan Mitchell, 24, is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, transactions involving drug proceeds, stopping, standing or parking in forbidden places and possession of drug paraphernalia, Houma Police said.

Around 2 a.m. Tuesday police found a 2018 Ford Fusion stooped at the intersection of South Van Avenue and Grand Caillou Road, authorities said. The officer saw that the vehicle was obstructing the intersection and tried to contact the driver, who was asleep at the wheel, police said.

After smelling marijuana coming from the car, police found about 79 grams of marijuana, a digital scale and $702 in cash, authorities said.

Mitchell was arrested and booked into the Terrebonne Parish jail.
