Three suspects tossed their drugs and paraphernalia out the window during a brief pursuit by Cherokee County deputies, according to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, but they were arrested at the chase’s end.
Deputies tried to stop the vehicle Tuesday evening on Alabama Highway 9 South, but the driver fled. Items were thrown from the vehicle, but they were recovered by deputies, along with additional methamphetamine and heroin.
The three were taken into custody for multiple offenses.
Marvin F. Fortenberry, 50, and Chadwick S. Phillips, 43, were charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, fleeing/attempted to elude and tampering with evidence. They are in the Cherokee County Detention Center on $8,500 bond.
Kenneth D. Kennedy, 47, is charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He is being held on $6,000 bond.
