HANCEVILLE – Led by a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds from Ruot Monyyong, the No. 24-ranked Shelton State men’s basketball team defeated Wallace-Hanceville, 58-56, on the road on Saturday.

Monyyong was one of four Buccaneers (14-2) who scored in double figures in the win as Airen Brooks, Imoras Agee and Bryant Lancaster each scored 11 points.

 

No. 12 Lady Bucs win on road

HANCEVILLE – The No. 12 Shelton State women’s basketball team defeated host Wallace State-Hanceville, 81-70, on the road on Saturday.

Shelton State (16-3) was led by Ataiya Bridges with 17 points. She was 11 of 12 on free throws. LaTascya Duff scored 16 points, Briana Trigg 15 and former Sipsey Valley player Queen Ford scored 10. Ayanna Trigg had a team-leading and career-high 19 rebounds.

Former Hillcrest player Tawana Nevels led Wallace State and the game with 19 points.
