A 22-year-old Houma man was arrested after being accused of trying to rape a woman in June, authorities said.

Brock Anthony Guidry, of 213 Richard Drive, is charged with attempted first-degree rape, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were called out to a Chauvin home to investigate the incident, the Sheriff’s Office said. A 23-year-old victim, who was acquainted with the suspect, told investigators Guidry had tried to rape her. The victim had injuries that were consistent to the information she provided.

Two witnesses intervened and prevented the crime from escalating further, authorities said. The suspect fled the scene shortly before deputies arrived. Investigators made multiple attempts to locate him after obtaining an arrest warrant.

Guidry was later arrested in Lafourche Parish and was transported to the Terrebonne Parish jail Thursday, authorities said. He remains jailed on a $200,000 bond.
