LAKELAND, Fla. - For the second straight day, the University of West Alabama Tigers showed improvement on offense from the first half to the second but the defense didn't hold up as the Eckerd College Tritons grabbed a 66-52 victory to wrap the Sunshine State Conference/Gulf South Conference Challenge for both teams on Saturday.

UWA falls to 0-2 to start the season and will next host Selma for the Tigers home opener on Thursday at 7 p.m. Eckerd improves to 2-0.

EC built a 28-20 halftime lead in the sluggish start for both teams before outscoring the Tigers in the second half 38-32.

UWA’s top scorer with 18 points was Josh Fleming. He also had three steals and six rebounds. DeAndre Harper led the Tigers with 10 rebounds.
