Oct. 27: CASA of Terrebonne will present the Paddle the Kayaks Fishing Tournament on Oct. 27 at Trade Winds Marina, 7681 La. 56 in Chauvin. The fishing times are 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and all paddle craft are welcomed. The entry fee is $40 per person, which includes an event T-shirt, food and raffle ticket. Rodeo categories are redfish and speckled trout with cash prizes award to the top three -- $500 for first place, $250 for second place and $100 for third place. Oct. 30: The South Lafourche Chapter of Coastal Conservation Association Louisiana will hold its annual banquet at 6 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Larose Civic Center, 307 East 5th St. in Larose. Tickets are $75 per person, and the cost for a table of 10 is $650. VIP tables are also available for $1,000. Spouse and youth tickets are also available for $35 and $25, respectively. Nov. 8: The Houma/Terrebonne Committee of Ducks Unlimited will hold its annual banquet/outdoor show at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center at 5 p.m. on Nov. 8. Ducks Unlimited was formed to provide for the life cycle needs of North America's migratory waterfowl by protecting, restoring, enhancing, and managing important wetlands and associated uplands. DU is the world's largest private sector waterfowl, wetlands, and wildlife conservation organization, with one million supports and members in the U.S. Since its inception in 1937, DU has raised more than $1 billion and conserved over 8 million acres of habitat throughout North America.
For the ninth year the Houma DU chapter was a Top 100 national chapter.
Nov. 11: The Bayou Bandits volleyball club will host tryout sessions at H.L. Bourgeois on Nov. 11. The tryouts will consist of three sessions based on age groups. The first session will be for 10U and 12U. Orientation and registration will be at 9-9:30 a.m., and the assessment, placement, practice and tryouts will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The second session will be for age groups 13U and 14U. Registration will be held from 11:30 a.m. to noon, and the practice/tryouts will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. The third session is the 15U through 18U age groups. Registration is from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and practice/tryout will follow from 2:30-4 p.m. A tryout fee of $50 will be charged for all players in order to participate. The club will also have its Volley Tots program for girls ages 3-8. It is the third year of the Volley Tots, who won’t participate in tournament play but will only compete at practices. Volley Tots will practice weekly for a total of 10 sessions on some Wednesdays and mostly Sundays for an hour. Volley Tots registration is $40 and will be collected Nov. 11. The coaching staff will consist of director Chip Didier, Peter Verret of H.L. Bourgeois High, Craig Hamner of Terrebonne High and other high school coaches and staff. Nov. 12: The Nicholls State University baseball and football programs will put on the 2018 Roth/Hamilton Memorial Golf Tournament on Nov. 12 at LaTour Golf Club in Mathews. The four-man scramble, honoring the late Fred Roth and Darryl Hamilton, will feature flights at 7 a.m. and noon. The one-day event is open to the public at $500 per team with an additional $100 option for hole sponsors. All proceeds will directly benefit the Nicholls baseball and football teams.
