McCALLA - Jay Bramblett passed for 210 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score, but it wasn't enough as Hillcrest turned the ball over three times and fell 35-26 Friday night in a Class 6A, Region 4 contest at McAdory.

Bramblett hit Kyah Moore for a 7-yard touchdown in the first period after McAdory had run out to a 14-0 lead and ran for a 2-yard score in the fourth quarter.

In between, the Patriots got a 9-yard touchdown run for Nassir Boyd and Seth Martin kicked a short field goal and a 50-yarder.

Desmon Dortch Jr. threw touchdown passes of 82, 66 and 22 yards to lead the Yellow Jackets.

Hillcrest will host Paul W. Bryant next Friday.

 

Holy Spirit 42,

Keith 14

ORRVILLE - Sam Contorno completed 17 of 18 passes for 136 yards and three touchdowns as the Holy Spirit Saints crushed Keith in a Class 1A, Region 3 match-up.

Contorno threw two of his touchdown passes to Jaylon Stevenson. The duo connected on throws of 16 and 17 yards. Contorno also threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Mason Mulinax.

A.J. Lee led the Saints with 130 rushing yards and one touchdown. He scored on an 8-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Also scoring touchdowns for Holy Spirit were Hunter Watkins on a 4-yard run and Colton Garrett with a fumble recovery in the end zone.

Holy Spirit (6-2, 3-2) travels to Maplesville next Friday night.

 

Winfield 35,

Carbon Hill 12

CARBON HILL - The Pirates improved to 8-0 overall, 5-0 in Class 3A, Region 4 play, with Jackson Elkins throwing two touchdown passes to Brock Hollingworth and running for another score.

Elkins hit Hollingsworth for scores of 42 and 6 yards, completing 12 of 19 attempts for 192 yards with one interception, and also ran for a 2-yard touchdown. Hollingsworth caught three passees for 70 yards.

Chris Brolyes gained 122 yards on 21 attempts and scored on runs of 13 and 5 yards and added three receptions for 20 yards.

Blaise Miles, Walker Junkin and Nathan Kemble all intercepted passes to lead the Winfield defense.

Carbon Hill got two touchdown runs from Jonathan Madison, who also passed for 209 yards.

 

Bibb County 34,

Chilton County 21

CLANTON - Myles Kornegay ran for touchdowns of 9 and 20 yards and Trey Reese threw two touchdown passes to lead the Choctaws.

Reese connected with Brody Seales for a 6-yard score and Mikal Moton for a 28-yard touchdown. He completed 11 of 17 passes for 121 yards. Kornegay ran for 133 yards on 20 carries, with Deshun Murrell adding 139 yards on 27 attempts. Reese and Kornegay each ran for a 2-point conversion.

Bibb County also got a 49-yard fumble return for a score from Tyquan Anderson-Bennett.

 

Marengo Academy 14,

Pickens Academy 12

CARROLLTON - Austin Goodman caught two touchdown passes for the Pickens Academy Pirates in their loss to Marengo Academy.

Goodman caught a 44-yard touchdown pass from William Parker, before the duo connected again later on a 5-yard scoring play.

Jon Wesley Rye led the Pirates in rushing with 86 yards on 15 carries.

Pickens Academy (2-6) hosts Southern Academy next Friday night.

 

Tuscaloosa Christian 49,

Hope Christian 36

COTTONDALE - Landon Pate passed for three touchdowns and passed for another as the Tuscaloosa Christian Warriors defeated Hope Christian in eight-man football.

Pate threw scoring passes to Josh Wideman, Jacob Sumner and Coleton Burnette. Pate also scored on a 43-yard run.

Burnette added an 8-yard touchdown run, while Wideman scored on a 29-yard run and Logan Minor returned a fumble 80 yards for a touchdown.

Nigel Paige led the Warrior defense with 20 tackles and Payton West had 16.

Tuscaloosa Christian (3-5) hosts Ezekiel Christian on Thursday night.
