David Hale, 58, of Panama City Beach, was killed in the wreck while his passenger, nine-year-old Lilah Hale, also of Panama City Beach, was airlifted to Bay Medical with serious injuries.

PANAMA CITY BEACH — A Panama City Beach man was killed and his nine-year-old passenger seriously injured in a head-on collision on Hwy 388 Saturday afternoon.

David Hale,  58, of Panama City Beach, was killed in the wreck while his passenger,  nine-year-old Lilah Hale, also of Panama City Beach, was airlifted to Bay Medical with serious injuries.

Anthony Gilyard, 59, of Panama City, was also seriously injured.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred around 2:25 p.m. on Highway 388 at the intersection of Burnt Mill Creek Road. Gilyard was driving his Ford Explorer eastbound approaching a right curve, while Hale was driving a Toyota Tundra westbound, also approaching the curve. The two collided head-on.

Hale was transported to Bay Medical where he succumbed to his injuries.

The crash is under investigation and charges are pending.

It is unknown whether alcohol played a factor in the wreck.
