FORT WALTON BEACH — A 40-year-old man was jailed after taking his girlfriend’s possessions and locking them in a car to which she didn’t have keys.

Officers had previously responded to the couple’s home in reference to a verbal domestic situation, according to a Fort Walton Beach Police Department report. They were then called back when the woman said her boyfriend of five years, who was drunk, came back to the home and took items from her.

She said he took her purse and cell phone, placed them in the trunk of his car, locked the car and then left on foot.

The woman didn’t have keys to his car and couldn’t access her items, valued at $290.

The man was charged with petit theft, a misdemeanor.
