NICEVILLE — A 40-year-old man was charged with grand theft after concealing many items in his pants and a bag.
A Niceville police officer was called to Walmart in reference to a possible theft that was happening. A man wearing camo pants, a blue long-sleeved shirt and a hat was putting merchandise in his pants and backpack.
When the officer arrived, an asset protection employee was outside and pointed out the man. The officer detained and searched him. He found two DVDs, a Bluetooth headset, pet collar and retractable pet leash in his pants. Inside the backpack were multiple pairs of pants and underwear, multiple DVDs, an LED headlamp and four tennis balls.
In a shopping cart he attempted to leave with there was a hat, a compound bow, multiple attachments for the compound bow and an eight-pack of Mountain Dew.
The total value of all the items was $641.01. The man told officers his wife left and he didn’t have any money, so he stole the items to sell them later.
