HOLMES COUNTY — A Bonifay man has been arrested after police said he falsely reported his family members had been shot.

The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office reported Jake Dunn, 37, called Holmes County E-911 and claimed three family members had been shot and were unresponsive.

He did not report an address, so the responding deputy went to the family’s home on Highway 179. The deputy reported he was met at the home by two of the alleged victims, who said no one had been harmed and that Dunn was not at the residence.

Deputies found Dunn at another location near Sowell Loop. Dunn reportedly told officers he was armed with a gun and refused to comply with repeated instructions to come out of the residence.

Deputies made entry and arrested him, charging him with making a false report and misuse of the E911 system.
