Some area swimming holes continue to register increased E.coli levels after heavy rains in the region, according to the Coosa Riverkeeper’s Swim Guide for this weekend.
The results from Thursday’s testing resulted in moderate E.coli alerts for Attalla City Park, Mill Pond Park on Cove Creek at Hokes Bluff, Coldwater Creek Memorial Park and Weoka Creek Slough.
High alerts were posted for Big Canoe Creek at Alabama Highway 231 bridge, Choccolocco Creek at Priebes Mill Bridge, Hatchet Creek Park and Wetumpka at Jordan Dam.
Rain events could alter results because of run-off, the Swim Guide cautions at its website, so people should swim with caution.
As rain stops and weather conditions improve, so should E.coli levels in the water.
