Yoga instructor Kristina Laszewski expertly balanced a pint of beer above her head while dipping into a deep lunge.

“Place that beer to the left side of your mat; pick up your back knee, and step into a full forward bend,” she instructed, while taking deep breaths.

The Mind, Body, Brew yoga class at Destin Brewery was small this week due to traffic, but the three participants and Laszewski continued to sip and stretch their way through a 50-minute vinyasa-style flow.

“I’ve been to several of these yoga classes,” said Pat Perrotta. “The beer loosens you up to stretch longer.”

Laszewski, who is a fitness instructor at Sandestin Fitness Center, said that one of her friends sent her a social media post about a yoga studio in Germany that started incorporating beer into the class.

“I knew that people had done yoga classes in breweries before but had never incorporated the beer, so I thought ‘let’s do this at Destin Brewery and drink beer!’” said Laszewski.

The beer yoga class is held on most Thursdays at 6 p.m. for $12. One free pint of beer is included with the class.
