A Tuscaloosa man arrested Monday is accused of trying to set fire to the Alcoholics Anonymous building on Jack Warner Parkway.
Someone inside called police to report seeing Camilla Calvitt Huxford Jr., 36, pouring gasoline from a can through a broken window of the north side of the building and then trying to ignite it with a cigarette lighter.
The witness asked Huxford what he was doing, according to court documents. Huxford replied that he was "glad to see" the witness, police reported.
Police arrived and arrested Huxford on attempted first-degree arson and second-degree burglary charges.
Officers located another gas can about 300 yards away under a small bridge along the Tuscaloosa Riverwalk.
Huxford remained in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on Wednesday with bond set at $45,000.
