An Etowah County woman is in jail, according to Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin, after she jumped in the truck of a man who interrupted a burglary, and he drove her to meet deputies.

Kelli Lynn Wyatt, 37, of Gadsden, is charged with one count of third-degree burglary, a felony; one count of fourth-degree theft of property, a misdemeanor; public intoxication and a failure to appear for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, Capt. Jason Argo said.

Wyatt is accused of breaking into a building at the Owls Hollow Skeet Club on Saturday. She startled a board member when he approached the building, causing him to run back to his truck. Wyatt chased after the man, jumping into the back of the truck and yelling at the driver.

The driver called 9-1-1 and met deputies at a store on Old Highway 411. Wyatt was then apprehended from the back of the truck without further incident.

She is in the Etowah County Detention Center on $3,600 bond.
