Investigators were questioning several people late Monday night after a man was shot in the abdomen at Broadmoore Gardens Apartments.

Tuscaloosa police were called to the complex off James I. Harrison Jr. Parkway around 8 p.m., said Capt. Kip Hart, Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit assistant commander.

Officers found several shell casings and blood in the parking lot. They learned the victim, 27, had been taken to DCH Regional Medical Center in a private vehicle.

Offiers stopped several vehicles around the hospital occupied by people who Hart said were involved in the incident.

"We're not sure if they were friends of the victim or suspects that might have been going to finish a confrontation," he said.

The victim was being taken into surgery when investigators arrived at DCH.

"At this time, we haven't determined exactly what this over or his exact condition," Hart said at the scene, about an hour and a half after the shooting was reported.

He asked that anyone who was at the complex or who has any information to contact local law enforcement or CrimeStoppers at 205-752-STOP (7867).
