FORT WALTON BEACH — A man who brought his girlfriend into the Fort Walton Beach Fire Department because he thought she was overdosing was arrested after officers found drugs on his person.

The man drove his girlfriend to the Fire Department on March 4 just after 9 p.m., according to a Fort Walton Beach Police Department arrest report. He told firefighters he believed she was suffering from an overdose.

Police officers responded, plugged the man’s information into their system and learned he had an active warrant out of Walton County. During a search of the man, they found baggies of heroin, Xanax and an unknown gray powdery substance in his pockets.

The man was arrested and charged with two counts of controlled substance possession and one count of out-of-county warrant.

The condition of his girlfriend was not listed in the arrest report.
