Author Jane Hawkins will sign copies of her first children's book at Apalachicola's Downtown Books from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17.

"A Truck Named Tony" tells the story of a little red pickup truck who yearns to trade boring days in the dealership showroom for the thrills of zipping down bumpy roads and winching other trucks out of the mud.

Midwest Book Review called Tony "an original and utterly charming picture book story… that will prove to be an enduringly popular and appreciated addition to family, elementary school, and community library collections.”

Hawkins has been a junior high school English teacher, stay-at-home mom, and editor of a regional running magazine. She and her husband divide their time between Tulsa, Oklahoma, and St. George Island.
