FORT WALTON BEACH — A Fort Walton Beach man was seriously injured Wednesday night when a dog attacked him in his home.
According to the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society Director Dee Thompson, the victim had a Rottweiler in heat and had left the door to his home open.
The dog, described as a black dog with possibly some white on it, came inside about 9:30 p.m. and tried to get at the Rottweiler. The man tried to get in between them and was attacked. Thompson said his leg was severely injured and he went to the hospital.
The dog had left before officers arrived. Officers were patrolling the area around Forest Grove Place and Jonquil Avenue where the attack occurred.
The victim was still at the hospital mid-day Thursday.
