Will remain closed through February
The boat ramp at T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park will be closed through the end of February to allow for dredging and repairs.
For anyone in the last few months that has launched a boat at the park’s boat ramp can attest to it has been a challenge to get into St. Joseph Bay. Sand has filled in and closed off the channel from the boat basin to the bay. This is especially noticeable during low tide. Park staff has taken on the task of dredging and deepening the channel. Unfortunately, we must close all boat launching activity at our boat ramp for this repair.
The boat launch at the park will be closed for use until the end of February. Staff will attempt to open the launch on weekends, but visitors are urged to contact the park before you attempt to launch your boat on Saturdays and Sundays.
The park apologizes if repairs inconvenience your boating enjoyment and appreciate your cooperation. This repair is much needed and will make boating activities more enjoyable once the dredging is completed.
For information on the closure and weekend use of the boat ramp please contact the park office at 227-1327.
