FORT WALTON BEACH — A 19-year-old Shalimar man who was pulled over while driving his Mercedes-Benz was arrested on several drug charges after officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle.

According to a Fort Walton Beach Police Department arrest report, a street crimes unit officer observed a silver Mercedes-Benz failing to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Wright Parkway and Rogers Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the driver, and while speaking with the 19-year-old man he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.

When the officer asked the man if he had marijuana, he replied, “Yes, a little bit.”

After searching the vehicle, the officer found more than “a little bit” of drugs. He recovered 8.2 grams of cocaine and 96 grams of marijuana, as well as a scale and packaging material.

The man was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, both felonies.
