With a four-game series against Stony Brook starting on Friday, the Nicholls State University baseball program has compiled a list of improvements for fans to look forward to when attending games at Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field.

Facility facelifts: The home of Colonels baseball now features Geo-Surfaces artificial turf along the infield and foul lines with the patented GeoFlo shock pad and drainage blanket.

Fans will notice a fully-functional elevator with a pedestrian bridge attached to the main grandstands.

A surround-sound speaker system has been installed to reach all ends of the Did, and new chairback seats are slated to be added this spring.

There is also a berm behind the lowered right-field fence where students are encouraged to enjoy the game.

Fresh fencing has been constructed to improve sight lines in and around the ballpark, and a new area has been marked for jump houses.

Concession specials: A host of new food promotions enter the Did in 2018 including Taco Tuesdays, Weenie Wednesdays, Fried Fish Fridays, Strikeout Saturdays, Burger and Beer Sundays and Family Four-Packs.

Taco Tuesdays will see specials on tacos and $1 draft beer.

Weenie Wednesdays allow fans to enjoy a hot dog for $1. Fried catfish poboys will be available on Fridays. Strikeout Saturdays will see the price of beer drop by $1 for each opposing hitter that Nicholls whiffs in the first inning. This reduced price will last through the fourth inning. Burger and Beer Sundays discounts hamburgers all game and two canned beers for $5 in the fifth innings.

The Family Four-Pack allows fans to choose four combinations of a hot dog or hamburger, candy or chips and a drink for $24. An $8 Cajun-themed combo of a Creole hot dog with coleslaw and a side of cracklins will additionally be available at all home contests.

In addition to concession specials, each game will be themed by Nicholls’ marketing department.

Season tickets/coaches committee: Season tickets, six suite tickets per game at $20/ticket and 15- and 25-game flex packages are still available for purchase.

Contact the ticket office at 985-448-4790 or go to www.nichollstickets.com for more information.

The Coaches Committee, available to all Nicholls fans, will allow access into the gated right-field area.

Access will be gained by presenting your new member card that can be purchased online.

The purpose of this added fee is to continue to help raise much needed funding for the program, funds that are desperately needed each year to continue to produce the highest quality team, coaches, and facilities possible.
