DESTIN — A 16-year-old boy has been charged with felony aggravated battery and misdemeanor battery following a fight over his refusal to stop playing video games.
Okaloosa County sheriff’s deputies arrested Nathan Cole Robertson on Monday evening at his home on Sand Myrtle Trail. He told deputies he and his mother got into an argument when he refused to stop playing a multiplayer video game and talk to her. When she threatened to smash his game console with a golf club, he grabbed the club and began to push her with it, according to the Sheriff's Office.
When his stepfather intervened, the teen struck him multiple times until the golf club broke in half. He then tried to stab his stepfather with the broken end but “it didn’t work,” according to his arrest report.
The father drove himself to a medical facility for treatment.
Robertson was charged with domestic violence battery on his mother and felony domestic violence aggravated battery on his stepfather.
He was taken to a Florida Department of Juvenile Justice facility.
