PANAMA CITY — Police say a driver has life-threatening injuries after he crashed his car at the intersection of U.S. 231 and County 2301 in the northbound lane near the entrance of Bense Farms this morning.

Traffic has slowed, but the lanes are not closed. People should avoid the area if possible.

The driver reportedly went off the road, hit a ditch and went airborne. The car, a red Jeep with Florida tags, came to a stop in some bushes by the railroad tracks. Emergency crews had to extricate the man from the vehicle, police reported.

The Panama City Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, Bay County Sheriff's Office and Panama City Fire Department are working the scene.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
