BONIFAY – In a 3-2 vote, Holmes County School Board hired Retired Judge Owen Powell as new legal counsel when the board met in regular session October 3.
Powell fills the position left vacant when former attorney Jeff Goodman was appointed to serve as Judge in the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit.
An agreement with the Florida Learns Foundation was approved in a unanimous vote. This agreement is a matching grant with Consortium of Florida Education Foundations for $13,466.62. The program will see Bethlehem High School have its first ever Television Production Class where students can earn industry certifications.
The school board approved a contract with Panhandle Area Education Consortium (PAEC) for use of Skyward software and hosting for their payroll needs.
In other business, all requested overnight or out of state trips for students have been approved.
Holmes District School Board will meet again in regular session at 9 a.m. on October 17.
